Saturday, May 12 at Old Bethpage Village Restoration:

This will be a fun match, especially for beginners. If you were thinking of trying out the new skill you learned in our clinics, this is your chance.

Saturday, May 26 at Roundtuit Ranch, Enfield, CT:

This is day 1 of the "Battle for the Ranch" match, run with the CT Renegades. Shoot on Saturday, Shoot on Sunday or shoot BOTH days! Saturday will be a SASS match hosted by the Island Long Riders and Sunday will be a CSA match hosted by the CT Renegades.

A few of us took the trip to ride in the first CT Renegades match of the season. Great fun for all - they did a terrific job.

Our first match of the season is right around the corner. We are working on a fun "Cowboy Challenge" stage side match for some added excitement.

This is a great chance to dust off the cobwebs and get into the 2012 Cowboy Mounted Shooting season. I hope to see all our new riders from the March clinic - this is going to be a fun and beginner friendly shoot.

Looks like 2012 will be a busy year. We have plenty of fun planned.

Our first event will be a new horse/new rider clinic on Saturday, March 17 at Coram Equestrian Center. We will run one morning and one afternoon session to accomocate as many riders as possible.

For those of you considering Cowboy Mounted Shooting, this clinic is the best way to get started and see if it is something you and your horse would like to do. We plan to have one or two more clinic dates during the year, but scheduling is always difficult one the season gets going. Always best to strike while the iron is hot!

Paperwork is pending for the OBVR dates, but you should mark them on your calendar now.

We are also working on a few match dates at Coram Equestrian Center.

We are working with Malibu Dude Ranch to host three events in 2012. Two of the events will probably be Saturday matches and one of the events will another fun 2-day weekend match.

There are other locations we are working on for matches in September and October, in addition to demos and practices. Add in all the opportunites with the other New England clubs and It is going to be a full year with plenty to do. You could practically go to a match every weekend.

We haven't been hibernating in the off-season... just catching up on some needed sleep. 2011 was a busy year and we are hard at work on 2012.

January Exhibition at the PA Farm Show!

Wow, was this a BIG event! Livestock of all kinds ,a rodeo, more vendors than you can count, throngs of people and a giant butter sculpture. Add in the Island Long Riders mounted shooting, and it was an amazing weekend of fun.

On Friday night we did a short demo showing the crowd what mounted shooting is all about. On Saturday, we did a 90 minute show. We started out with a small "clinic" and worked with five new horses to give the crowd an idea of how horses are trained.

Then we launched into a team competition with Joe, Frank and Jim O riding against, Mary, Jimmy and Danielle. It was pretty close through the three stages, but Mary's team ended up winning the day. Great riding everyone!
